Understanding Weather Alerts in Nagaland – A Citizen’s Guide

One of the key features of our State Forecast Overview is the Nagaland Warning Map, which uses color codes to communicate the level of risk in each district. But what do these warnings really mean, and how should citizens respond? Let’s break it down.

🔹 Color Codes Explained

1. Green (No Warning) Normal conditions. Safe for outdoor activities and travel.

 2. Yellow (Be Updated) Possibility of heavy rain, thunderstorms, or strong winds. Citizens should stay alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow updates.

 3. Orange (Be Prepared) Severe weather likely – heavy rainfall, landslides, flooding in low-lying areas. Farmers should protect crops, travelers should check road conditions, and residents should prepare for power outages.

4. Red (Take Action) Extreme weather situation – high risk of floods, landslides, or storms. Citizens must follow instructions from local authorities and avoid going outdoors unless absolutely necessary.

🔹 Why Alerts Matter Nagaland’s terrain makes it prone to flash floods and landslides, especially during the monsoon season. With our station data and AI forecasting, we provide early warnings so communities can act in time.

🔹 How Citizens Can Stay Safe Farmers: Use rainfall forecasts to plan sowing, harvesting, and fertilizer use. Travelers: Always check the warning map before starting your journey. Families: Keep emergency supplies (torch, medicines, drinking water) ready during heavy rain alerts. Students & Workers: Stay updated with our bulletins, press releases, and AI forecast videos.

🔹 Conclusion Weather warnings are not just numbers—they are life-saving information. By understanding the meaning of green, yellow, orange, and red alerts, every citizen can take timely precautions and reduce risks.
